About the Business
Osteopathy is a manual medicine focusing on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculo-skeletal system. It is a whole body approach to healthcare. Osteopaths do not focus on the ‘problem' but instead use manual techniques to balance the whole body, enhancing and promoting good health and wellbeing.
Osteopathic philosophy is what sets it apart from other forms of physical therapy. The belief of osteopathy is that all body systems work together and function in an integrated manner. For example restriction in one area of the body will lead to compensations and adaptations in another.
Osteopaths use a wide variety of hands on techniques which include soft tissue massage and stretching, traction and mobilisation and/or manipulation of specific joints. Each treatment is tailor made to the individual and will depend upon the presentation, health, history, age, occupation and a variety of other factors of a particular patient.
